The Tasks explorer displays the task lists in the projects that you selected. A task list contains a set of tasks A single unit of work done by one person. and subtasks to be completed for a project.

Like other explorers in the application view, the Tasks explorer has a hierarchical navigation tree A tree of subfolders in the navigation pane of the application view. To view the contents of the navigation tree on the table pane, click on a node or folder in the navigation tree., a common tool bar with buttons that change according to the permission level of the user, a table pane Upper right section of the application view. The table pane displays all objects contained in the node you selected in the navigation tree. You can also view detailed information about the objects in the table pane by selecting the check box next to the item. Detailed information appears on the details pane., and a details pane Lower right section of the application view. You can view details and descriptions (if provided) of items selected in the table pane. You can also perform various actions, such as notifying others about the document you uploaded or subscribing to a discussion..
If you have a limited permission level, you cannot see all the buttons in the action bar. In addition, only buttons that apply to the object you have selected are enabled; until you have selected an object, many buttons are grayed out and disabled.

To apply an action to a task list, such as creating a new task or deleting a task list, select the task list in the navigation tree A tree of subfolders in the navigation pane of the application view. To view the contents of the navigation tree on the table pane, click on a node or folder in the navigation tree. first.
To apply actions to a specific task such as claiming Assign an unassigned task to yourself. a task or deleting a task, select the task list in the navigation tree, then select the task in the table pane Upper right section of the application view. The table pane displays all objects contained in the node you selected in the navigation tree. You can also view detailed information about the objects in the table pane by selecting the check box next to the item. Detailed information appears on the details pane.. If you do not select a task, most of the buttons in the action bar remain grayed out.
To unselect a task or subtask, clear the check box to the left of the task or subtask.
You can toggle between
table view (click )and timeline view (click
). Select a task list before you select the viewing option.
To change the completion
percentage and status of a task, right-click a task and, from the context
menu, select Edit.
Change the percentage and status indicator in the Edit Task Editor.
Note: You must have Write permission or higher to update the
task status.

The status of the task.

The action bar of the details pane for the task list lets you subscribe yourself or notify others to the task list. You can also attach files and discussions to it. In the navigation tree, select the task list.

This email can also alert selected Project Members of any overdue tasks that are in a task list. includes these alerts.
