You can set or change the name and the description of a task A single unit of work done by one person., and you can select whether to display the task on the project Calendar.

Click Finish after you are done configuring the following:

Type no more than 100 characters to name the task. |
Description |
Optional. Type no more than 1,000 characters to describe the task. The description appears in the heading of the details pane Lower right section of the application view. You can view details and descriptions (if provided) of items selected in the table pane. You can also perform various actions, such as notifying others about the document you uploaded or subscribing to a discussion. when the task is selected in the table pane Upper right section of the application view. The table pane displays all objects contained in the node you selected in the navigation tree. You can also view detailed information about the objects in the table pane by selecting the check box next to the item. Detailed information appears on the details pane.. If you set this task to show in the Calendar, the description also appears in the floating text that displays when the mouse hovers over the task in the Calendar. |
Duration |
Type a number up to 999 to define the number of days over which the task will occur. Changing the duration changes the due date to preserve the duration of the task. By default, this number does not include weekends and holidays on new tasks. For more information, see Task List Properties. |
Start Date |
Either type the start date of a task in m/d/yyyy format or use the date
chooser |
Due Date |
Either type the due date of a task in m/d/yyyy format or use the date
chooser If the task is not completed by the due date, the task will be listed in red. |
Dependent on tasks |
If you want to assign a prerequisite task, click Tasks that have subtasks cannot also have dependent tasks. If the task is dependent on another task, you can change the dependent task's start date to occur on or after the due date of the preceding prerequisite task. Collaboration moves the dependent task's due date by the corresponding amount to preserve the duration of the task. By default, Collaboration sets the start date of a dependent task to one day after the due date of the preceding prerequisite task. |

If you want to identify the task as a milestone, which is a single date of an important occurrence or turning point related to a project, select the check box. |

Status |
Optional. Type a percentage (between 0 and 100) to indicate the portion of the task that is completed. You must have Write permission or higher to update the task status. Also select the risk indicator that best represents the risk status
of the task: |
Optional. Select when project users should be notified about new tasks that are added to this task list. If you want Collaboration to send an instant e-mail notifying project members about their tasks as soon as they are assigned to them, select On Assignment. This e-mail is not the daily task summary notification, which is sent out nightly. Select Start Date or Due Date if you want Collaboration to send a daily task summary notification A system-generated e-mail that is sent every night to users. This e-mail can inform Project Members when the start date or end date occurs for one or more of the tasks that are assigned to them. This e-mail can also alert selected Project Members of any overdue tasks that are in a task list. on the start date or due date of a task. Start dates and due dates are not sent in individual notification events. To define the frequency at which the daily task summary notification alerts task owners and selected Project Members of overdue tasks in the task list, click the Alerts button in the details pane action bar for the task list and edit the Overdue Task Alerts dialog box. |
