Project Recycle Bin

As a Project Leader, you have access to the project's recycle bin, which displays all of the contents -- grouped by functional area (Tasks, Documents, and Discussions) -- that have been deleted from that specific project. At one time, you can remove all items from the recycle bin, or separately remove all contents of each functional area.  You can also choose individual items to undelete from the project. Once you have removed items from the recycle bin, you cannot undelete the items. Objects that you undelete are moved to the root folder. For step-by-step instructions on how to empty and undelete items from the Project Recycle Bin, see Using the Project Recycle Bin.

Note: Collaboration includes objects in the Project Recycle Bin when calculating a project’s total memory usage.

This feature is available for all types of projects except for project templates.

Note: Collaboration contains two types of recycle bins. The other recycle bin is used to manage deleted projects, rather than specific deleted items from projects. For more information, see Recycle Bin System Folder.

Like the other explorers in the application view, the Project Recycle Bin has a tool bar, a hierarchical navigation tree, a table pane, and a detail pane. This topic provides information about how to use these components specifically in the recycle bin. For more general information about how to use these components in explorers, see Navigating the Explorers.

This topic discusses:

Undeleted Items
Project Recycle Bin Action Bar

Project Recycle Bin Navigation Tree

Project Recycle Bin Table Pane

Project Recycle Bin Preview Pane/Automatic Deletion Settings

Undeleted Items

Collaboration retains all of the data for undeleted items.

Functional Area
Data Restored When Item Is Undeleted

Tasks

All tasks, task assignments, and task dependencies.

Documents

Edit history and the content of each version.

Note: If a project member has deleted a document folder, Collaboration undeletes all subfolders and documents within the document folder. If a project member has deleted or moved the parent folder of the document folder into another project, Collaboration places the document folder within a new top-level project folder.

Discussions

All messages in the discussion. If a project member has deleted or moved the parent folder of the document into another project, Collaboration places the document within a new top-level project folder.
