Task List Properties

You can set or change the name and the description of a task list A list of individual tasks required to complete a project , one phase of a project, or a to-do list. Task Lists have date properties that are calculated based on the dates of the tasks it contains. and set the default notification settings for new tasks added to this task list.

Click Finish after you are done configuring the following:

Setting
Description

Name

Type no more than 100 characters to name the task list.

Description

Optional. Type no more than 1,000 characters to describe the task list. The description appears in the heading of the details pane Lower right section of the application view. You can view details and descriptions (if provided) of items selected in the table pane. You can also perform various actions, such as notifying others about the document you uploaded or subscribing to a discussion. when the task list is selected in the table pane Upper right section of the application view. You can view the items you selected in the navigation pane in a table format. You can also view detailed information about the items in the table pane by selecting the check box next to the item. Detailed information appears on the details pane below..  

Display in Calendar

If you want new tasks added to this task list to display in the Calendar, select the check box. If you are changing this setting on an existing task list, a confirmation box lets you choose whether or not to apply this change to all tasks in the task list.

Schedule tasks to include weekends and holidays

Optional. Select this check box if you want Collaboration to include weekends and holidays when calculating the duration of tasks, and to allow start dates and due dates to occur on weekends and holidays. By default, this check box is cleared.

If you are creating a new task list, this setting is reflected in the schedules for all tasks that you create for the task list.

Note: If you change this setting on an existing task list, the changes will apply only to tasks that are created after you change this setting. If you want this change to apply to existing tasks, you must individually edit each of those tasks after you change this setting. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you plan task lists carefully to eliminate the need to change this setting in the future.

Notification

Optional. Select when project users should be notified about new tasks that are added to this task list.

If you want Collaboration to send an instant e-mail notifying project members about their tasks as soon as they are assigned to them, select On Assignment. This e-mail is not the daily task summary notification, which is sent out nightly.

Select Start Date or Due Date if you want Collaboration to send a daily task summary notification A system-generated e-mail that is sent every night to users. This e-mail can inform Project Members when the start date or end date occurs for one or more of the tasks that are assigned to them. This e-mail can also alert selected Project Members of any overdue tasks that are in a task list. on the start date or due date of a task. Start dates and due dates are not sent in individual notification events.

To define the frequency at which the daily task summary notification alerts task owners and selected Project Members of overdue tasks in the task list, click the Alerts button in the details pane action bar for the task list and edit the Overdue Task Alerts dialog box.

If you are changing this setting on an existing task list, a confirmation box lets you choose whether or not to apply this change to all tasks in the task list.

 To configure who can access this task, click the Security tab. The Security tab is not visible when you are importing a Microsoft project.
