Project Explorer enables you to view different projects The common workspace for members working together on a project. under one window. It lists projects available to you and lets you select projects to include in your My Projects portlet.
If you are a community manager, you can add projects to the Community Projects portlet.
If you have the Manage Collaboration Projects activity right, you can use the project explorer to create new projects, manage active projects, archive completed projects, and delete irrelevant projects. Users with the Manage Collaboration Projects activity right can also access and use the Recycle Bin System Folder.

Like the explorers in the application view, the Project Explorer has a hierarchical navigation tree A tree of subfolders in the navigation pane of the application view. To view the contents of the navigation tree on the table pane, click on a node or folder in the navigation tree., a common tool bar with buttons that change according to the permission level of the user, a table pane Upper right section of the application view. The table pane displays all objects contained in the node you selected in the navigation tree. You can also view detailed information about the objects in the table pane by selecting the check box next to the item. Detailed information appears on the details pane., and a details pane Lower right section of the application view. You can view details and descriptions (if provided) of items selected in the table pane. You can also perform various actions, such as notifying others about the document you uploaded or subscribing to a discussion..
If you have a limited permission level, you cannot see all the buttons in the action bar. In addition, only buttons that apply to the object you selected are enabled; until you have selected an object, many buttons are grayed out and disabled.
Buttons
with are context-sensitive and have submenus. What these
buttons do depends on what object you have selected in the explorer.

To apply an action to a project, such as adding it to your My Page, select the project in the table pane first.
To unselect a file, clear the check box to the left of the project or folder name.
When you click a folder, the table pane displays its contents.

You must have the Manage Collaboration Projects activity right to see most of the buttons; otherwise, you can only navigate to the parent folder and add projects to your My Projects portlet.
If a button is disabled and you have the proper activity right, either the action does not apply to the object or you have not selected an object.

Create a new project folder. In the New Project Folder Properties dialog box, type the name and description, then click Finish. Project folders exist in Collaboration, not on your personal computer. Project subfolders exist on your personal computer and are mappings of Collaboration projects. For more information, see About Web Folders. |
Project Template |
Create a project template, which facilitates the creation of projects that are similar. Select Template Project Folder in the navigation tree before you click New | Project Template. Note: Task status data is neither copied over into projects that are created from project templates, nor into project templates that are created from projects. The details pane provides additional information about the project folder and project, such as project risk and completion status. The action bar lets you subscribe yourself or others to the folder.
