Notification E-mail

The Notification E-mail tab of the Send Notification Editor lets you create and send a notification e-mail. You use the Editor Toolbar to format the text of the notification e-mail.

Note: This topic discusses how you manually create and send a notification e-mail. Notification e-mails can also be sent automatically by the system to users who have subscriptions to Collaboration objects. When a notification event occurs on a Collaboration object, the system sends a notification e-mail to the users who are subscribed to that object. For more information, see About Notification Events.

To send the e-mail, click Finish after you are done configuring the following:

Click To...
From the Choose Users dialog box, select the recipients of the notification e-mail. You can:

  • Type a name into the Search text box to perform a search for a user.
    Note:
Do not use any wildcards when searching for users.

  • Expand the tree to select roles, portal groups, and individual users.

When you select a role, the notification e-mail is sent to all of the users who are assigned to the role; it is not sent to the users within the groups that are assigned to that role. Individual users belong to groups that are assigned to roles.  For example, KurtF belongs to the Administrators group that is assigned to the Project Leaders role.

When you select a portal group, the notification e-mail is sent to all of the users who are assigned to the group. You can also select individual users within portal groups.  The Everyone group is not selectable. Your administrator must enable portal group notifications to use this feature.

When you have finished selecting recipients, click Finish.
