When you create a project template, you can specify the method to be used for copying dates from the project template to a new project created from the template.
Project templates include the notion of a base date. The dates of tasks, milestones, and events in a project template are not significant on their own. It is the relative position of the dates to the project template base date that is significant. When a new project is created from a project template, a project start date is specified. When the tasks, milestones, and events from the project template are copied to the new project, their dates are set relative to the project start date.

The last three of the options are based on the notion of a work day and involve a technique known as date shifting. For the purposes of date shifting, a working day is defined as any day other than Saturday, Sunday, or any holiday specified on the Holidays page.
