As with regular projects, project templates are associated with three roles:
The meaning of these roles in a project template is not the same as the meaning of the roles in a project.
In a project, the three roles are used to control access to various aspects of the project, such as documents and discussions. However, in a project template, the roles are not used to control access to the various parts of the project template. Rather, they are used to control access in the projects that are created from the template.
For example, if user Mary is a member of the Project Guest role in project template T, and if this Project Guest role is granted permission to view documents, this does not mean that Mary has permission to view the documents in the project template T. Instead, it means that if project P is created based on project template T, then Mary will have permission to view the documents in project P. Of course, the role memberships and permissions in project P can be edited at a later time.
It is also necessary to control access to the data within the project template itself. Therefore, the Project Leader role in a project template serves two purposes. It is used to:
Users in the Project Leader role have full access to all parts of a project template. Users not in the Project Leader role have no access to any parts of the project template.
